# Mr de Beer

> Mr de Beer is a picture-book builder for parents, made in South Africa. It is free to start: a new account gets 20 free credits while they last, enough for a first book, with no card needed. A parent tells the bear who the hero is; the AI writes a first draft and paints every page, and the parent changes any word or picture before anyone reads it. Books are read on a screen, read aloud by a narrator voice, or ordered as a printed copy (South Africa only, paid in rand through PayFast). It works in English and Afrikaans, for children aged 2 to 9. The editor is always free; credits pay for more AI changes, and a printed book, the Book Club membership, the Mr de Beer Pass and library Story Packs are optional extras (https://mnrdebeer.com/pricing). Photos of children are optional: words are always enough.
