Questions

What parents ask first.

What does it cost?

Nothing to start. Your first book is free: a new account gets 20 free credits, while they last, and that is enough for a first book. No card needed. After that you pay only for what you want, like a printed copy. See all prices

Is it a subscription?

No. The editor is free, and it never will be a subscription. If you love it, the Book Club prints your own book and posts it to you every three months. That is optional, and you can stop any time.

Who reads the book out loud?

One of four voices you pick. The book reads itself, page by page, and turns its own pages while it goes. Read aloud comes with the Book Club or the Pass, and with a Story Pack on a library book.

Do I have to make a book myself?

No. We make books too. They sit in the library and are free to read on screen. Today: six Bible books. More are on the way. A Story Pack, the Book Club or the Pass adds read-aloud mode. The Story Pack and the Book Club add the printed book too. Pop-up Pages are free on every library book.

Who owns the book?

You do. The words, the pictures and the printed copy are yours. We do not sell it, share it or use it to advertise. You can delete it any time.

Where do the pictures come from?

An AI paints them. You can describe the hero in words: a name, an age and three words. Words are always enough. If you like, it can also paint from a picture: a photo of your child, a photo of a toy or a pet, or your child's own drawing. You tick a box to say yes first. The picture goes to Google's Gemini service to be painted. We keep it in private storage, only to paint that one card again, and never share it or use it to train AI. Our privacy page says how long we keep it and how to remove it.

How long does a print take?

10 to 14 working days in South Africa, and that includes making the book. It is an estimate, not a promise, and it always shows on the screen with the full price before you pay.

Where do you send printed books?

South Africa, today. Printed books go out inside the country and the prices are in rand. Other countries are next, and each one gets a real price and a real delivery time before we offer it.

Can I use my own language?

English and Afrikaans, today. The book, the voice and Mr de Beer's tips all follow the language you pick.

Is it safe for a child?

Every story is written for a child of 2 to 9. Kind, nothing scarier than a storybook, no brands, no real people. And you read every page before your child does.

Does Mr de Beer hear or see my child?

No. He cannot hear or see anyone. He is a helper on the screen for the grown-up building the book.
